So I realize I already posted this pic as a B&W a couple months ago (my first post, actually), but I'm putting it up again because I plan to submit it in a National Geographic Traveler amateur photo contest. Why the color version? There are already so many gray areas in this pic that it almost looks like the fusion of a B&W and Color photograph. Which makes the reddish-brown tones of the middle door, the dirt and the boy's skin and clothes stand out even more.
I'm also struggling a bit with the crop job on this one. Part of me thinks I should crop down a bit further so that the boy occupies a greater portion of the frame. Opinions anyone? (for those of you who don't know, you can leave comments on any of my blog posts by clicking on "comments" at the bottom of the post). I also need a title...
Maybe I should at least crop a little off the top (below). Thoughts welcome...

I like the cropped shot better. Makes the relationship between the height of the pic and the height of the boy more appealing to the eye. How 'bout "Brave New World" with apologies to Aldous Huxley?
dan, i like the uncropped better - if you crop off the top of the pic, i think some contrast between the color in the dirt, door, and boy and the black and white-looking parts of the pic. if that makes sense.
i think you LOSE some contrast, is what i was going for.
I think I like the cropped version better, as the grass/tree (?) at the top of the first picture is disrupting to me. Makes me wonder what that is. I'd rather that not be in the pic.
can you crop the boy out? it takes away from the blackness beyond the door. and make the red shoes green.
Trigger wants to know if he can be in the picture licking the boy's leg?
